690 Women | 690 Shirts | 690 Survival Stories

After Zimbabwe, the Seychelles, Mauritius, China, India, Chile, Switzerland, the project was implemented in Germany.

Under the title WOMEN IN THE DARK – aufruhr des schweigens, gender-based discrimination, harassment, and violence, experienced by every third to fourth woman in Germany, are being brought to light.

To make this possible, Der PARITÄTISCHE in Bayern and the Berliner Initiative gegen Gewalt an Frauen, BIG e.V., as cooperation partners, motivated nearly 150 organizations from 12 federal states to participate. Through this effort, 690 affected women were encouraged to write their personal messages on white shirts—in more than 40 languages.

WOMEN IN THE DARK – aufruhr des schweigens is being realized as a traveling exhibition by WOMEN IN THE DARK Deutschland e.V. This non-profit association, founded in 2019, aims to contribute to the protection of women’s fundamental rights and their equality in all areas of society.
